Surpise Visit

Since Spencer has no schedule these days, he was talking with my cousin about attending a St Louis Cardinal game. Spencer decided at the spur of the moment that he would go. So, naturally, I decided to tag along....I have family there I would like to visit as well. The drive is only like 5 hours, so whatever time we left, we thought Dom would be fine. He really is getting better at road trips...he's so much MORE patient.

Then on Wednesday, he got a call from a recruiter in OK about a job at a university hospital that are looking to hire several NPs...soon. They wanted to fly him on Friday (of the following week) but he decided since we were all going to St Louis...to just stop there and then drive 8hrs to OK for the interview. The place is really like 20min from my parents' house...so we decided to keep it a surprise.

So, off we went on Monday, and arrived in St Louis around dinner time. Family was waiting for us to eat dinner and it was nice to talk and catch up...it had been a long time. Spencer got the chance to attend the game and have fun. We also ate at this place called Sugarfire (bbq joint)...which is pretty good. Well recommended if anyone is in the St Louis area...they've got several locations.  I got to stay at my aunt's house and catch up...who knew so much had happened in a year?

We stayed a total of 2 days, and left Wednesday morning and headed off to OK. The drive was 8 hrs and Dom finally decided to take a nap around 2pm...but he did fine. The Ipad kept him entertained the rest of the way (between SpongeBob episodes and apps)...thank goodness for technology.

On the road again.

Getting tired of sitting
We arrived around 4:30pm (at my parents' house) and we all went to the front door and rang the doorbell. The idea was for Dom to stand in the middle of the porch and surprise his Guelita...but once he saw us hide, he became paranoid and tried to hide as well....so that didn't work. And THEN...I forgot that my parents have security cameras on the porch (seriously...who does that??) and my mom saw me...either way, she couldn't believe it.

Guelita found some cars for him

Posing for the camera...

We were there for about 4 days and Spencer had a pretty good interview and really liked the physicians that he would be working with....they like to golf...so he found some golfing buddies already.  We're hoping this will lead to something. It would be really nice to live next to parents right now....cause I need some help. And if Spencer works nights...I can have someone near to help me if I need it....just like before, when Dom was a baby. So, we'll see...either way, we toured a couple of apartment buildings...just in case. WE really don't want to make another trip....and it took us like 15 minutes. And it helps to be familiar with the nice parts of town with easy interstate access (so Spence could get to work faster) without doing much homework.

We stayed at my parents' house in my old room...and boy is that room cozy for three people. Dom slept with us, and would wake us up like 4 times a night. It was awful, but it was nice to know I could leave him in someone else's care (for once) while I caught up on sleep the next morning. If we do move there....it would be pretty sweet....more date nights, sleepovers for Dom, more grilled food (I really do miss having a grill)... and lots of new adventures!

Exhausted
I love being around my parents...they're funny people....and they love Dominic...after all, he's the only grandchild. And his uncles have quite a few toys they can hand him down to play with. And Dom loves the attention he gets from all four of them....seriously...who wouldn't? He started talking right away to them, which surprised me. SO, now they know how much Dom has been talking in the past few weeks. My mom was actually very surprised, because he doesn't talk that much through Skype.

Long drive back to Nash....10 hrs!!!
Thank goodness for technology!
HOME!!!!
So, hopefully this is it...and we can finally move to a "permanent" place of our own and start the new chapter of our lives....
