At the end of the month, 99% of all the Coffey Siblings (minus one) were able to meet in Texas for a long awaited reunion. Truth be told, this is our third one. The first one, was our second summer married- and it was at the Lake of the Ozarks...I'm pretty sure everyone was there.
The second one, was at Kentucky Lake (right before Dom was born)...and only about half of us showed up. This time, people were really committed to actually going, since the Grandparents are headed for a mission in Vietnam in a couple of months. Spencer's oldest brother decided to host it. I'm not really sure if he knew what he had signed up for haha. Compared to our first family reunion...I think we have tripled lol.
We left early hoping the kids would sleep...I really don't know why we keep thinking that. They never did and we arrived on Sunday at noon, to find the Arizona Coffeys waiting for us to eat lunch. We decided to let the kiddos run some energy and went to an indoor playground. In case you're wondering...it's freaking hot and humid over here!

The place is pretty cool. We came last year and Dom loved it, so we knew his cousins would love it too. Parents can go in too, but it's really just for kids. Ethan had a blast too. He was going up the slide, and getting in everyone's way....he even did the balance beam and he actually made it all the way across. He's so good at that stuff.
Dinner included bbq- as it should in Texas. The kids surprised us and actually ate. Little R ate some chopped brisket...which apparently she doesn't eat meat. She proved her mama wrong. And Dom was eating brisket like there was no tomorrow...and white bread. All the kids stuffed their faces with bread. Then we went out for ice cream and Dom dropped his scoop in the ground, forcing me to share...and then he didn't even eat it. After that, we decided to go see the bats on Congress St., which is basically a bridge. It's the biggest man made "cavern" full of bats...and they are SO loud! You can hear them all the time. The bridge itself is sketchy....it's heavily trafficked...and it's a very small sidewalk that you can stand on...it's a bit scary....somebody could easily run people over the bridge. So we stuck to the bottom...where there is a bit of grass. After an hour of waiting, the bats finally started to come out, but not NEARLY in the huge cloud that you see online in pics. I guess this was not the right season...you would see a few here and a few there. The children were very cranky and tired and we decided to call it quits and go to the hotel to meet the rest of the family tomorrow.

Around Monday at noon, we met with the crew that was already there. There were already about 4 families there. To say it was hectic and noisy...it's an understatement. My husband is one of nine children....and six of them already have children. The kids were allowed to run outside most of the time, to run some energy or play with toys inside, or color. Lunch and Dinner were provided and some of us brought stuff to ease the grocery bill. If i remember correctly- Monday was spaghetti, Tuesday was tacos, Wednesday was burgers/hot dogs, and Thursday night was buffet night. Lunch was pretty much whatever was in the fridge. And as predicted, children didn't eat very well, especially mine- with fruit snacks and cookies running amok, why would they eat spaghetti? So, our nights were awful...they would wake up constantly asking for food or more milk. And it NEVER got any better....they ran around all day, only being fueled by snacks. It's horrible...we're on a terrible withdrawal over here. My kids finally ate a decent dinner meal last night...well, one of them did.

Most of the time was spent with family. Several days, we went to the pool (that's where I killed my camera- I had to pick between my camera and Ethan drowning...Ethan won, so I was not able to get as many pics as I wanted from the rest of the trip). One day we went to the aquarium, and another day we rented a water slide for the kids to have fun in.....but adults went on it too....haha. Dom surprised me....he was the youngest one on there....he was fearless, he was on there for like four hours....he's so sun burnt...it's ridiculous. He really did like that slide. It was nice to see family and see kids that we hadn't seen before. We all live too far away from each other, it's hard to really communicate with anybody except thru social media, so it was nice to have a one on one contact. It was nice to just sit and talk and see what everyone was up to. It was nice to sit in late at night...just the adults and have the Coffeys reminisce about their old house and old adventures growing up.....my siblings and I were not nearly as wild haha.
A few of us ventured out into Round Rock and visited the biggest Texas donuts and hung out by the outlets....we just needed to sweat somewhere else haha. The donuts were amazing by the way...highly recommended- Round Rock Donuts.
